Good news.... according to the EPA, total emissions of six key air pollutants (nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulfur dioxide, particulate matter and lead ) have dropped 49% between 1980 and 2006 while U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) grew 121%. From 1990 to 2002, emissions of hazardous air pollutants have declined by 35%.
